Automated Overspend Alerts. Here’s how a quick tweak to your account can help you avoid a sudden surge in search spending…and blood pressure.

This week’s Tech Tip is from Skai Search Client Success Manager, Rachel Gelb, who wants to make sure your morning latte doesn’t come with a double shot of stress.

Picture this: It’s a little before 9am on a Monday. The sun is out, you’re walking to the office full of optimism and energy (some of which comes from that yummy latte you treated yourself to this morning). You are so ready to absolutely crush your search campaigns all week long.

You get to your desk and log into Skai to check on your portfolios. And that’s when you see it.

Your portfolio overspent by more than 30%.

And then your alarm goes off. You bolt upright in bed. It’s 6:30am. It was all just a bad dream! But the potential for this bad dream to become a reality is real. Very real. Unless you make one incredibly easy but hugely helpful precautionary adjustment.  

Shake off that dream fog and set up automated overspend alerts. Now!

With automated overspend alerts, you’ll receive an email to let you know if one of your portfolios is on track to exceed your budget by more than 10%. It’s probably one of the easiest things to set up too, which is even better!

How to set up automated overspend alerts:

  1. Navigate to the Portfolios tab within a specific profile and select one of your portfoliosNavigate to automated overspend alerts
  2. From the Actions dropdown menu, select Automate Overspend AlertDropdown menu under Actions with options. The automated overspend alerts option is highlighted in yellow; other options include delete, merge portfolios, reset portfolio models, override policy, and intraday bidding.
  3. Breathe Easy! From here, Skai will run this action in the background daily. If our systems detect you’re likely to exceed your budget by more than 10%, we’ll send you and your Client Success Team an email to let you know.
