The big advertising kickoff to the holiday shopping season—called the Cyber 5—are the five days from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday. It also always an important barometer to understand how where and how big retail advertisers are placing their bets to maximize this critical opportunity.
And this is a key time of year. According to the National Retail Federation:
“Overall, holiday sales represent about 20 percent of annual retail sales each year, but the figure can be higher for some retailers. Hobby, toy and game stores report the highest share at about 30 percent. In addition, holiday sales can be more profitable because the increased volume of purchases comes without significantly increasing retailers’ fixed costs of doing business.”
With 2019 is set to be the first trillion-dollar US shopping season in history, this year’s Cyber 5 was incredibly important for retailers to absolutely get right because it 2019 is one of the shortest holiday seasons in recent memory with just 26 days between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Now that Cyber 5 2019 has passed, it’s time to check out the data to see what happened. You can go in-depth into our Cyber 5 2019 analysis here, but we’ve collected the key insights into this Cyber 5 2019 Holiday Shopping Season Kickoff infographic. Feel free to download and share it.
